Rain sensor for weather station

The application of rainfall sensor in IoT agricultural microclimate observatory is a manifestation of sensing technology in the development of smart agriculture.

    The rain sensor is suitable for meteorological stations (stations), hydrological stations, agriculture, forestry, national defense and other relevant departments to remotely measure the amount of liquid precipitation, the intensity of precipitation, and the start and end time of precipitation. It can be used for automatic hydrological monitoring and reporting systems and automatic field monitoring and reporting stations for the purposes of flood control, water supply scheduling, power station and reservoir water regime management, etc.

 Rain sensor usage principle:

    The rainwater collected by the water inlet passes through the upper cylinder (funnel) and is injected into the metering tipper. It is a mechanical bistable structure, when one compartment receives water, the other compartment is in a waiting state. When the volume of all rainwater reaches a predetermined value of 0.2 (0.5) mm, it will overturn itself due to the action of gravity and be in a waiting state, while the other bucket is in a water-receiving state.

    When its water intake reaches a predetermined value, it falls over by itself and is in a waiting state. Magnetic steel is installed on the side wall of the tipping bucket, which scans from the side of the dry reed when the tipping bucket is overturned to make the dry reed switch on and off. That is, every time the bucket is overturned, the dry reed switch is turned on to send out a switch signal (pulse signal).
